Renowned for his expertise in performing Liposarcoma surgeries, Dr. Dietrich Beelen boasts a remarkable 20-year experience in the field. Since 2002, he has been leading the Department of Transplantology at the Essen Clinic, which stands as the largest transplantation center in Europe, conducting nearly 4,000 allogeneic stem cell transplants and earning global recognition as one of the most experienced centers worldwide. Professor Beelen's outstanding contributions in the realm of allogeneic stem cell transplantation were acknowledged with the prestigious Karl Heinrich-Bauer Medal. His impactful work has significantly improved the outlook for patients with schizophrenic leukemia, enhancing the standing of oncology treatment in Germany through successful research in stem cell transplantation. With an impressive portfolio of 454 publications, Professor Beelen is currently focused on developing and testing modified allogeneic stem cell preparations for patients lacking tissue-compatible donors, along with exploring innovative cell-therapeutic drugs. Serving as the chairman of the German stem cell transplant registry, he also addresses benign hematologic systemic diseases and conducts research and practice in allogeneic stem cell transplantation with partially identical donors.
