Dr. Enrique Ferrer Rodriguez stands as a distinguished figure in the realm of pediatric neurosurgery, with an illustrious career spanning over 51 years. Currently serving at Sant Joan De Déu Children’s Hospital, Barcelona, Dr. Ferrer is recognized for his profound expertise and innovative contributions to the field. Graduating in Medicine and Surgery from the Autonomous University of Barcelona in 1973, he continued to pursue excellence, earning a Master's in Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery. Throughout his remarkable career, Dr. Ferrer has been at the forefront of advancements in neurosurgical techniques. Notable among his contributions are the introduction and development of microsurgery and spinal endoscopy, as well as pioneering techniques for neurological and spinal restoration with minimally invasive approaches. His expertise extends to neuroendoscopy, minimally invasive and computer-guided neurosurgery, advanced neuro-oncology, skull base endoscopic surgery, and surgeries for Parkinson's and epilepsy. In addition to his clinical prowess, Dr. Ferrer has held various leadership roles, including being the Head of Neurosurgery Service at Hospital Clínic of Barcelona from 1992 to 2014 and subsequently assuming the same position at Sant Joan de Déu since 2014. He has been actively involved in teaching as a Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Barcelona, earning recognition as the Coordinator of the Doctoral Program in Neurological Surgery and the Master's Program in Neurosciences. Dr. Ferrer's international influence is evident through his membership in numerous national and international neurosurgical societies, including the World Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery Society, where he serves as Vice President. Recognized for his scholarly contributions, he has authored over 100 publications in Impact Factor journals and has delivered more than 300 presentations at national and international congresses. His outstanding achievements have earned him awards from the Spanish Society of Neurosurgery, further affirming his significant impact on the field of pediatric neurosurgery.
