Dr. Fernando Rotellar Sastre, an eminent figure in Medicine and Surgery, currently serves as the Director of the Department of General and Digestive Surgery at Clínica Universidad de Navarra (CUN) in Pamplona, Spain. Graduating in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Oviedo in 1995, he furthered his education, earning his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Navarra in 2008. Dr. Rotellar is a specialist in General and Digestive Surgery with significant expertise in hepatobiliopancreatic surgery and bariatric surgery. With an illustrious career, Dr. Rotellar has achieved numerous accolades, including being the pioneer in Spain to direct the first laparoscopic living donor liver transplant, marking him as the fourth globally to accomplish this feat. He holds the European Board of Surgery qualification in Transplantation Surgery and Hepato Biliary or Pancreatic Surgery, as well as the IFSO-Surgeon of Excellence accreditation in Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery. Dr. Rotellar has contributed significantly to the development of minimally invasive techniques in liver and pancreas surgery, with a focus on laparoscopic applications in complex surgeries.
