Dr. Praveen Chandra stands as a prominent figure in Indian Cardiology, holding the esteemed position of Chairman of Interventional Cardiology at Medanta Medicity, Gurgaon, India. His expertise in Angioplasty is widely acknowledged, showcasing proficiency in the utilization of cutting-edge devices and technologies. Recognizing his outstanding contributions to the medical field, he was honored with the prestigious "Padma Shri" in 2016 by the President of India. Dr. Chandra's illustrious career includes serving as the Director of Cardiac Cath Lab & Acute MI Services at Max Healthcare and as a Consultant Cardiologist at Escorts Heart Institute and Research Center, New Delhi. A fellow of the Endovascular Intervention Society of India and the Asia-Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology, Dr. Chandra has been a distinguished faculty member at various international meetings. He played a pivotal role as the Organizer and Director of the AMI course held in New Delhi for the years 2005 & 2006. With an extensive scholarly portfolio, he has authored around 100 articles, reviews, and abstracts published in various national and international journals. His exceptional contributions were further acknowledged with the Recognition Award for Success and Achievement in the field of angioplasty in India in 1998. Dr. Chandra has been a trailblazer in introducing groundbreaking procedures in India, notably performing the first Percutaneous Aortic valve implantation without surgery and the pioneering percutaneous mitral valve repair. These groundbreaking interventions hold significant implications in a country with the highest number of Valvular cases globally. He also introduced the use of the Angio Jet Thrombectomy Device for the first time, initiated the Percutaneous Myocardial Laser vascularization Program in Asia, and was the first to utilize FFR (Fractional Flow Reserve) & Bioabsorbable stents in India. Dr. Praveen Chandra's commitment to advancing cardiac care has left an indelible mark on the landscape of interventional cardiology in India.
