Dr. T. Krishan Thusoo

With over 40 years of extensive surgical experience, Prof. T K Thusoo stands as a seasoned professional in the field. As an examiner in surgery for the University of Delhi and various other Indian universities, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the education of both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Prof. Thusoo has contributed significantly to the medical literature, with more than 40 publications in both national and international journals. His expertise lies in Endocrine Surgery, particularly Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgery, as well as Breast Surgery. Prof. Thusoo brings a wealth of experience in GI and Laparoscopic Surgery, having been a faculty member at the prestigious teaching hospital, Maulana Azad Medical College, and Associated Lok Nayak & G B Pant Hospitals in New Delhi. His accolades include Gold Medals in Anatomy, Pathology, and Pharmacology, along with several awards such as the Best Article in the Indian Journal Of Surgery for the year 1978, WHO Fellowship for Laparoscopic Surgery in the USA, and the Chairman’s Award of Max Health Care for the year 2004-05. With a clinical focus on Endocrine Surgery, especially Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgery, Breast Surgery, and GI Cancers, Prof. Thusoo has been the driving force behind the Endocrine Surgery Clinic at Lok Nayak Hospital, New Delhi, for more than 20 years. His expertise extends to a range of procedures, including cancer surgeries for GI cancers, breast cancer, thyroid cancers, and genito-urinary cancers. Prof. Thusoo's commitment to advancing surgical techniques is evident in his proficiency in laparoscopic surgery, for which he was awarded the WHO fellowship, and he has been regularly performing basic laparoscopic procedures for the past 20 years. As a distinguished figure in the medical community, Prof. T K Thusoo has received numerous awards and recognitions, including the Dr. T J Agarwal Memorial Oration for the year 1998, the Delhi State Award for Service Doctors for the year 1999-2000, and the Distinguished Alumni Award of Maulana Azad Medical College for the year 2002.
