Dr. Dimitris Lyras is a highly experienced Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon specializing in minimally invasive hip and knee surgery, joint reconstruction, and advanced orthopedic treatments. With international training in Europe and the United States, he has developed significant expertise in modern surgical techniques that help patients recover faster and regain mobility with improved outcomes.
Dr. Lyras completed his medical degree at the Medical School of Alexandroupolis, Democritus University of Thrace, followed by his internship at the General Hospital of Limnos, Greece. He then continued his specialist training in Orthopaedic Surgery at Amalia Fleming General Hospital in Athens, where he gained extensive experience in treating traumatic injuries and complex orthopedic conditions.
To further advance his surgical expertise, Dr. Lyras completed an Orthopaedic Trauma Fellowship at Poole NHS Hospital in the United Kingdom, where he trained in modern trauma management and reconstructive orthopedic procedures. He also pursued an Advanced Minimally Invasive Hip and Knee Surgery Fellowship at Sky Ridge Medical Center in Denver, Colorado, USA, where he specialized in innovative surgical approaches that minimize tissue damage and accelerate patient recovery.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Lyras has strong academic and research involvement. He earned a PhD focusing on the effects of autologous growth factors on tendon healing, contributing valuable insights into regenerative treatments in orthopedics. His research interests include biological therapies, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatments, and joint regeneration techniques.
