
Dr. Eleni Adamou is a highly experienced pulmonologist and respiratory medicine specialist with more than 25 years of clinical experience in diagnosing and managing complex respiratory conditions. She currently serves as the Head of the Respiratory Function Laboratory at HYGEIA Hospital in Athens, one of Greece’s most respected private healthcare institutions.
Dr. Adamou completed her medical degree at the University of Cluj-Napoca School of Medicine in Romania in 1991, followed by advanced medical training and specialization in pulmonology. Over the course of her career, she has gained extensive expertise in the evaluation and treatment of respiratory diseases through clinical practice, laboratory diagnostics, and pulmonary function testing.
Her clinical career includes long-term collaboration with leading respiratory specialists and medical institutions in Greece. She worked as an assistant physician in the team of Dr. Gougoulakis at HYGEIA Hospital from 1998 to 2011, where she gained extensive experience in pulmonary diagnostics and respiratory disease management.
Dr. Adamou later served as an Attending Lung Physician at HYGEIA Hospital from 2003 to 2015, as well as at the General Clinic “Mother” in Athens between 2011 and 2015. Her role involved diagnosing and treating a wide range of pulmonary conditions, including chronic respiratory diseases and smoking-related lung disorders.
In addition to her hospital work, she has been running a private respiratory medicine practice since 2005, offering specialized consultations and pulmonary function testing. She also participated in the Aegean medical team program (2008–2011), providing clinical examinations and spirometry testing to residents of remote islands in the southern Aegean region.
Currently, Dr. Adamou leads the Respiratory Function Laboratory at HYGEIA Hospital, where she oversees advanced pulmonary diagnostics, respiratory monitoring, and lung function testing. Dr. Panagiotis Adraktas is a highly experienced consultant general surgeon with more than two decades of clinical experience in advanced surgical procedures and minimally invasive techniques. He is associated with HYGEIA Hospital in Athens, one of Greece’s leading private healthcare institutions, where he works as an attending physician in the Second Surgical Clinic.
Dr. Adraktas completed his medical degree at the University of Padova in Italy, a historic European medical school known for its strong tradition in surgical education. After graduating, he continued his medical training and professional development through residency and specialization in general surgery, successfully obtaining his specialist qualification in 2003.
Since 2004, Dr. Adraktas has been practicing as an Attending Surgeon at HYGEIA Hospital, where he has gained extensive experience in the surgical treatment of a wide range of medical conditions affecting the abdominal organs, endocrine glands, and gastrointestinal system. In addition to his hospital role, he has also maintained a private surgical practice since 2004, providing consultations, diagnoses, and surgical treatment planning for patients with both routine and complex conditions.
Throughout his career, Dr. Adraktas has been actively involved in clinical research, surgical education, and training programs. He has contributed to the teaching of healthcare professionals and medical staff through lectures in the Surgical Nursing Specialty Program at “G. Gennimatas” General Hospital in Athens.
