Dr. Dimitrios Alexopoulos is a highly respected consultant cardiologist and internationally recognized cardiovascular specialist with more than 35 years of clinical experience in cardiology, cardiovascular research, and academic medicine. He is currently affiliated with HYGEIA Hospital in Athens, where he provides specialized cardiology consultations and advanced cardiovascular care to patients with a wide range of heart conditions.

Dr. Alexopoulos completed his medical degree at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Medical School, graduating with distinction. After completing his early clinical training in internal medicine and cardiology at Alexandra Hospital in Athens, he pursued advanced cardiology training in the United Kingdom at the John Radcliffe Hospital of Oxford University. During this period, he served as a registrar in cardiology and gained extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of complex cardiovascular diseases.

Following his specialization, Dr. Alexopoulos expanded his expertise through advanced clinical training and research in the United States at Mount Sinai Hospital and Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. In addition to his clinical career, Dr. Alexopoulos has had a distinguished academic career. He served for many years as Professor of Cardiology at the University of Patras, where he contributed significantly to cardiology education and research. Later, he was appointed Professor of Cardiology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, one of the most prestigious academic institutions in Greece. In these roles, he trained medical students, supervised postgraduate research, and contributed to international cardiovascular studies.
